The Green Key Label
Columbus Monte-Carlo has been awarded the Green Key Label !
The interest of the public for the ecological stakes does not stop growing. 58,2 % of the French people so place the environmental criterion as factor of choice prevailing for their accommodation of holidays (poll BVA opinion in April, 2011).
To participate actively in this collective awareness, we have the pleasure to announce you that our establishment, Columbus Monte-Carlo has just obtained the Key label Green, 1st national and international environmental label for the tourist accommodations and the catering! Our environmental policy allows us to be a member of 120 new Key prize-winners Green on 2013.
The Clef Verte / Green Key network , 1st national and international environmental label, welcomes more than 800 prize-winners in all the regions of France as well as 1900 establishments in 36 countries.
The label is at awarded to tourist accommodations, hotels, holiday cottages, guest houses, holiday residences and restaurants which justify with a jury independent from experts a successful, continuous and dynamic environmental management.
The jury is constituted by experts of the tourism and by the environment and by the professionals of the sector. Their authority in the field of the sustainable tourism represents a strong reliable security for the professionals committed in the Green Key approach and for the responsible vacationers.
The wood convention
As part of the initiative "Monaco makes a commitment against deforestation" Columbus Monte-Carlo Hotel is committed to:
Promote to customers and suppliers, timber and products made from FSC or PEFC certified or from a legal and sustainable forestry as a means to fight against deforestation.
Purchase and use of wood and / or wood products FSC or PEFC certified or from a legal and sustainable forestry.
Recycle wood and / or wood waste by appropriate channels.
Ensure the traceability of wood and / or wood in products made of wood.
Tend towards exclusive use of wood and / or wood products FSC or PEFC certified or from a legal and sustainable forestry.
All 60 watt incandescent bulbs have been replaced with 11 watt bulbs.
Motion sensors have been fitted on all 9 floors and in communal areas
Installation of anti-drip tap attachments in the 181 rooms.
Installation of water fountains for use by staff in order to eliminate water bottles
Selective sorting of rubbish is carried out daily (paper, plastic, bulbs, batteries, glass bottles)
Columbus Monte-Carlo has a compactor for cardboard boxes and tries to recycle them wherever possible with our food and drink suppliers.
By staying at the Columbus Monte-Carlo you participate actively at the sustainable development policy. You will have the chance to discover in all rooms, our advices to have a 100% eco-responsible stay.
Organic products are used as cleaning and degreasing agents : 70 % of the cleaning products are ECOLAB
The pencils currently used in the rooms are manufactured in France from certified wood.
Within 6 months to a year:
Continuous training of staff on waste separation planned.
All spotlights in the communal areas are to be replaced with 6-watt LEDs (currently one spotlight in front of each room and using 20-watt halogen bulbs).
